Snee, Lutche, Helmlinger & Spielberger, P.A.’s origins trace back to 1982. Whitfill, Leaf & Hertsch hired Joe Snee as a $5.00 an hour law clerk in 1982. One year later, Cypert O. Whitfill was appointed by Governor Harry R. Hughes as a judge of the Circuit Court for Harford County. In 1988, Leaf & Hertsch merged with Cook, Howard, Downes & Tracy, a prominent Towson law firm. Ten months later, in June, 1989, Cook, Howard merged with Venable, Baetjer & Howard. Joe Snee made partner at Venable, Baetjer & Howard on January 1, 1993. Thereafter, Snee and his new partners went back to their roots leaving Venable on September 30, 1993 and establishing a new firm. Steve Lutche joined the firm in April, 1994 after representing the Harford County Law Department. Colleen Helmlinger joined the firm on October 29, 2001 with large firm experience from Whiteford, Taylor & Preston, LLLP and as former Assistant General Counsel with Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Company. After stellar careers with Whiteford Taylor & Travelers Insurance Company, Gail Spielberger joined SLH on March 1, 2013. After clerking for the Honorable William O. Carr, Laura Bechtel joined the firm on August 1, 2011. Mary-Dulany James and John Zink, III complete our seven lawyer general practice firm. In December 2015 former partner Kevin J. Mahoney was appointed by Governor Hogan as a judge of the Circuit Court for Harford County. In April 2016, the firm became affiliated with Mid-Atlantic Title LLC. In addition to our lawyers, we have two legal assistants, Leigh Shotto and Rebecca Harris and Firm Administrator, Stephanie Schneider. Our firm employs a great support staff – Laura Smith, Betty Buckley, Sharon Pupa, Joan Bryant and Brooke Day.
112 South Main Street became the new headquarters of Snee, Lutche, Helmlinger & Spielberger, P.A. when SLH LLC purchased and renovated the building and parking lot in October of 2014. The building was completely remodeled and is now Bel Air’s only Class A law firm office space. Featuring 9,000 square feet, 31 parking spaces, it is strategically situated between Main Street and Bond Street in the Town of Bel Air.
The firm represents individuals and business clients, in all matters, including business formations, MBE certifications, non-profit tax exemptions, mergers and acquisitions, civil litigation, criminal litigation, real estate, zoning, liquor law matters, estate probate, estate planning, trademarks, etc.
