Snee and House Bill 969

On Behalf of | May 23, 2016 | Firm News, Liquor License

Working with the Harford County Delegation and Senators, Shareholder Joseph F. Snee, Jr. assisted in drafting House Bill 969 which authorizes the Harford County Liquor Board to issue a license to an establishment anywhere in the county, if the establishment is not located within 300 feet of a public or private school.  The Bill decreases the minimum distance requirement from 1000 feet.

Under prior law, the Liquor Board in Harford County was authorized to waive the 1000 foot distance requirement from a public or private school down to 300 feet ONLY in the Town of  Bel Air, the City of Aberdeen and the City of Havre de Grace.  With the passage of House Bill 969, the Liquor Board is authorized to waive the distance requirement from 1000 feet to 300 feet in Harford County and all three municipalities.

Governor Hogan signed House Bill 969 and it becomes law July 1, 2016.

Mr. Snee appreciates the efforts of the Harford County Delegation, the Harford County Senators and Governor Hogan.
